While we were in Tenakee Springs I saw this
unusual sight. A three-generation boat.

And
they all had a job and were ready to work as
the boat was being brought into the dock.

I
was particularly taken with nine year old Christine.
Here she is in action, getting ready to rig
the bow line.

She
is getting ready to coil it up so
she can do a neat throw.

Look
at that tongue. She's concentrating hard.

OK,
that's one half of the coil job completed.
Then she did a second looped coil so she would
be ready to throw just half the weight of that
big line.

She
gets herself into position and doesn't let
herself get distracted by the activity around
her.

Now
comes the throw.

She
knows she's nailing it.

He's
got it! A nice, small, satisfied smile. Good
work, Christine.

Cassie
and Melissa, I was really thinking about you
two while I was taking these pictures of her.
Grandma and Grandpa were definitely in on the
action too.

The
boat (M/V Ambience) is in transit
from Seattle to Whittier AK (where the owners
live) so they will be crossing the Gulf
of Alaska during this trip. It's a good thing
there is such a good crew onboard.
