Join us for a comprehensive cruising seminar program designed for those planning to cruise to British Columbia and up the Inside Passage to Southeast Alaska. Cruising experts will present strategies and practical tips for preparing to go, preparing your boat, planning for weather and suggested itineraries. The sessions will discuss the best places to go as well as where to find shrimp, crab, salmon, halibut - and the best restaurants and shopping. Our experts have current information and local knowledge from cruising last season. Classes will take place at the Anacortes Depot building, just a short walk from the Cap Sante Boat Haven. Slips are available through the Cap Sante harbor office (360-293-0694). For those driving, special room ratesare available at the Majestic Inn, Anaco Bay Inn and Cap Sante Inn.

5pm - 7:30pm Welcome Reception with Guest Speaker Robert Hale of the Waggoner Guide, Wine Beer and Appetizers. Bob will provide on update on the Inside Passage's favorite cruising destinations as well as practical tips for the weather challenges along the way.

Friday, March 19th
8:00am - 8:30am Buffet Breakfast
8:30am - 10:00am Session 1 - Preparing to Cruise North- a checklist of all of the things to consider when planning an extended cruise north.
10:00am - 10:30am Coffee Break
10:30am - 12:00 noon Session 2 - The San Juan and Gulf Islands - So close but still with special places you still have not discovered.
12:00pm - 1:00pm Lunch Program with Guest Speaker
1:00pm - 2:30pm Session 3 - Inside Passage Weather - Local Knowledge of the weather patterns critical for comfortable cruising in BC and up to SE Alaska.
2:30pm - 3:00pm Afternoon Break
3:00pm - 4:30pm Session 4 - Safely Navigating the rapids and open water crossings - a tutorial on cruising strategies to use the currents and rapids for comfortable cruising.

Friday Evening
6:30pm - 9:30pm Owners Groups Evening - Each group will have their own events near the Cap Sante Marina. Or, enjoy an evening on your own in Anacortes.

1:00pm - 2:30pm Session 7 - Northern British Columbia - Captain Linda Lewis takes you through the best destinations in the land of fiords, waterfalls and hot springs!
2:30pm - 3:00pm Afternoon Break
3:00pm - 4:30pm Session 8 - Setting up your boat for Pacific NW and Inside Passage Cruising - what to take and how to maintain your boat

Saturday Evening
6:30pm - 9:30pm Cruising Workshop Dinner for all participants with special guest speaker Janna Cawrse Esarey, the author of "The Motion of the Ocean", a humorous and entertaining presentation on surviving cruising with your mate.

Sunday, March 21st

8:30am - 10:00am Session 9 - SE Alaska 1 - Cruising in Southeast Alaska - Captain Linda Lewis shares her secrets for cruising from Ketchikan, through Misty Fiords, surviving Rocky Strait and Peril Strait to explore the charming town of Sitka
10:00am - 10:30am Coffee Break
10:30am - 12:00 noon Session 10 - SE Alaska 2 - Captain Linda Lewis continues her cruise through Southeast Alaska with a stop in Pelican Harbor, Elfin Cove, Glacier Bay, Hoonah, Juneau, the glaciers and the bears and other special places like Petersburg - also tips for the trip home.
